I've got this problem with wax build-up in my right ear. Only my right one, for some reason. About eighty percent of the time it's totally blocked up and it sound like I'm underwater. The worst thing about it is that I can hear my voice in my head, and it's ugly. Nobody likes to hear their own voice 24/7.
Well, except maybe Jeremy Clarkson.
